Carrie Beckmann

Carrie Beckmann is a contemporary painter and watercolorist in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has focused on the meditative process of looking carefully. Her exploration of visualization follows an arc not unlike Mondrian’s, only in reverse: beginning with abstract stripes, she has unpacked the grid to embrace an encounter with organic beauty. Her recent work goes further, exploding the floral still life into heroically-scaled fireworks. Her work on canvas and in watercolor is fascinatingly simple — meditative objects, piled high into vast mosaic of color and life. Recent work has returned to abstract gestures alongside the observational watercolor. They refresh the eye and the soul.
